We work in worlds where we are privy to “what’s behind the curtain;” highly sensitive information that if not handled correctly, can ruin companies, livelihoods, and people’s very lives, sometimes beyond repair. Conversely, we wield strong influence to help our agencies accomplish vital goals in our communities. Fostering relationships of trust is the only way we can avoid and mitigate negative outcomes, while effectively, powerfully, and positively meeting our role objectives.

At this event you’ll learn:

  1. You reap what you sow, especially with what you say
Gotta vent to someone? Buy a pillow pet. There’s no such thing as a secret
Manage up: Protect people’s good name
Words and phrases that support difficult conversations
  2. Say something—the crucial element of responsiveness
    24-hour response in email
    Same-day response in text
    Close the loop
  3. Ensure the success of your employer
    Vet everything…and I mean everything
    No errors on public-facing communications
    Solve problems before they arise

About the presenter:

Becki Bronson

Becki Bronson is the assistant vice president of community and government relations at SUU. Prior to that, she led communications for Intermountain St. George Regional, Cedar City, and Garfield Memorial hospitals. She also helps support political campaigns throughout Utah. Her heart and joy is her family: married to Adam, owner of several hunting companies, and proud mama to three: oldest daughter Kaleigh is in Oregon and married to son-in-law Sam, 20-year-old Hallie attends SUU majoring in communications, and 19-year-old son Ty is serving a church mission in Chile. Becki needs grandkids STAT but her children are totally dropping the ball, so she has two mini pomapoos, Harper and Scout, filling in for the time being.
