About the Speaker
Jon Oglesby
Assistant Vice President, Sports and Destination Engagement • Southern Utah University
Jon Oglesby is Assistant Vice President, Sports and Destination Engagement, at Southern Utah University. His responsibilities include overseeing the Larry H. Miller Utah Summer Games, along with other sports tournament experiences and events throughout Cedar City and across the state of Utah. Oglesby joined SUU in June 2023 after serving with the Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA).
During his tenure at SUU, Oglesby has helped lead a collaborative reimagining of the mission and strategic vision for the Larry H. Miller Utah Summer Games, resulting in key strategic partnerships with organizations such as Special Olympics Utah and the Las Vegas Raiders. He also successfully led a bid for SUU to host the State Games of America in Salt Lake City in 2030, while contributing to statewide efforts that promote sports business and educational opportunity.
A native of Logandale, Nevada, Oglesby served as an Assistant Director at the UHSAA for six seasons, overseeing Basketball, Cross Country, Lacrosse, Tennis, Track & Field, and Speech & Debate. In that role, he also managed the Association’s marketing and technology efforts and served as liaison with the Utah Governor’s Office, in addition to serving on several NFHS rules and advisory committees.
His additional experience includes serving as Senior Director of Communications and External Operations at the Big Sky Conference, where he oversaw communication efforts for Football, Golf, and Women’s Basketball, while also managing marketing and corporate sponsorship fulfillment. Oglesby has spent extensive time as a play-by-play broadcaster across radio, television, and streaming, and he also works as a communications consultant in college sports. He currently serves as an adjunct professor in the Dixie L. Leavitt School of Business at SUU.
