Summary:

Every organization (and departments within an organization) has unlimited and powerful stories to share. Provo City Communications Director Nicole Martin has worked in city government for 15 years teaching employees the principles of effective communication. By encouraging creative storytelling and working with other communicators across departments within the city, Provo City has eliminated department silos and instead created an effort with all departments working together to create a One Provo voice that strengthens the city brand and builds trust with residents.

In this session you’ll learn:

  • The importance of a unified organization brand and the communication repetition required to make it last;
  • How to train your organization’s employees to become ‘storytellers’ and push in the same direction;
  • How to share city stories effectively to the media and through other communication channels.

Speaker Bio:

Nicole Martin, Provo City Communications Director, believes communities are built from the ground up—at street level: in neighborhoods, at local restaurants, during events, within city hall—all of us together creating ‘Our Place.’ “It’s in telling community stories that we cultivate community connections.”

With a proven track record in city communications, Nicole’s love for cities began in Herriman and Sandy City. Her dedication to civic engagement was deepened with service on the Herriman City Council.
